Journey to Ixtlan and Other Seperate Realities

I just downloaded these titles from Audible.com http://www.audible.com/ an audio book service which is part of Amazon.com. The Castaneda works I had read some 40 years ago. I thought it might be enjoyable to revisit these writings once again. I haven’t read Jiddu Krishnamurti yet but, I am looking forward to it. Audible.com is offering the download of any title of your choosing as a free trial to their service. I would recommend it to all of you audio bookphiles out there. Here are the titles I have downloaded…

A Separate Reality: Further Conversations with Don Juan UNABRIDGED
by Carlos Castaneda
Narrated by Luis Moreno

With The Teachings of Don Juan, Carlos Castaneda chronicled a journey toward enlightenment under the tutelage of Yaqui Indian guru don Juan. Having sold more than eight million copies of his books around the world, Castaneda has inspired countless readers with his awareness-expanding experiences. After spending five years with Don Juan in the early 60s, Castaneda returned to Mexico in 1968 to continue his exploration of non-ordinary reality and draw ever closer to his ultimate goal of becoming a man of knowledge. Far from Western civilization, Don Juan and his world of hallucinogenic drugs offer insight and inducements toward true awakening—wisdom that Castaneda passes on in this astounding work.

The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge UNABRIDGED
by Carlos Castaneda
Narrated by Luis Moreno

For over 40 years, Carlos Castaneda’s The Teachings of Don Juan has inspired audiences to expand their world view beyond traditional Western forms. Originally published as Castaneda’s master’s thesis in anthropology, Teachings documents Castaneda’s supposed apprenticeship with a Yaqui Indian sorcerer, don Juan Matus. Dividing the work into two sections, Castaneda begins by describing don Juan’s philosophies, then continues with his own reflections.

What the Critics Say
“It’s impossible to view the world in quite the same way after reading him…. If Castaneda is correct, there is another world, a sometimes beautiful and sometimes frightening world, right before our eyes at this moment – if only we could see.” (Chicago Tribune)

Freedom from the Known UNABRIDGED
by Jiddu Krishnamurti
Narrated by Adam Behr

Drawn from a number of Krishnamurti’s talks and dialogues, Freedom From the Known explores many of the central themes of his teaching. The chapters include: Learning About Ourselves, Pursuit of Pleasure, Justification and Condemnation, and the Dissipation of Energy.
Krishnamurti writes, “To understand and to be free of any problem we need a great deal of passionate and sustained energy, not only physical and intellectual energy but an energy that is not dependent on any motive, psychological stimulus or drug”.
